Webinar: Child Safety-Abuse Prevention Part 4 https://www.naccc.org/events/webinar-child-safety-abuse-prevention-part-4/ Mon, 08 Jan 2024 17:11:42 +0000 https://www.naccc.org/events/webinar-child-safety-abuse-prevention-part-4/ Child Safety: Abuse Prevention

Children are a precious resource.  A church is entrusted with the care and nurture of children. Church leaders offer safe places for the children of the church and neighborhood.  Most churches perform background checks on persons who participate in ministry to children at church.  Did you know that only about 10% of abusers are ever prosecuted?  That means that 90% of offenders will be undiscovered through background checks.

The church must develop additional means to protect children.  This webinar will  discuss ways to identify a “groomer”.  A groomer is a person who seeks to develop a trusting relationship with a child so that they might exploit them.  We will also discuss policies to prevent the possibility of groomers gaining access to children in the church.
